The first quarter of 2017 was a hot quarter for footwear sales here at Running Warehouse, and the fire only continued to burn in quarter two. After taking a look at the numbers and excluding any clearance sales, we have created a list of footwear models (by color) that sold the highest volume during Summer 2017 (Q2).
On the men’s side, the New Balance Leadville led the charge with 2 new colors ranking 1st and 3rd on the best selling list. In general, New Balance trail had a solid quarter with other notable favorites such as the Vazee Summit v2 and the re-release of the New Balance MT10 v1 both sneaking into the top 25.
Coming as no surprise, HOKA ONE ONE continued its winning streak and had another phenomenal quarter. With 10 shoes making the top 25 list, HOKA proved yet again to be the strongest footwear seller. A favorite model year after year, the Clifton 3 showed high numbers with 5 colors making the top 25. Other models such as the Bondi 5, Hupana, and Clayton 2 showed solid numbers as well.
One of the most hyped shoes of June, the Nike Zoom Fly had both colors make the top 25 list at 7th and 24th respectively. Even though the shoe was only available for the last month of the quarter, it still offered impressive numbers and should continue to gain traction into the third quarter. Other notable performance trainers to make the list included the ASICS DS Trainer 22 and the Altra Escalante.
On the Racing side of things we saw several flats that have proven to be successful year in and year out. The ASICS Gel Hyper Speed 7, adidas adios boost 3, and the New Balance 1400 v5 all made the list and continue to be go-to options for competitive runners racing in anything from 5k to marathon. On the trail side, the Salomon S-Lab Sense Ultra has been a favorite among ultra marathon racers, and its growing popularity boosted it to number 19 on our list.
On the Women’s side we saw some similarities and some striking differences when compared to the men’s best selling list. One of the most blatant similarities was the large HOKA presence. The Clifton 3 took the top 3 positions on the women’s list with a 4th color coming in at number 12. In total HOKA had 8 shoes make the top 25 including the Bondi 5, Arahi, Hupana, and the Challenger ATR 3.
The performance and racing categories were also similar with the Altra Escalante and the ASICS DS Trainer cracking the top 20 as well as the ASICS Hyper Speed 7 and the New Balance 1400 v5 just cracking the top 25.
The noteworthy difference between the genders was the addition of several more daily training options. With multiple colors of the New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v7 and Brooks Adrenaline GTS 17 making the list, as well as a single color of the ASICS Foundation 12, the women’s list was slightly less performance oriented than the men’s.
Below are the full lists for the top 25 best sellers* in the second quarter of 2017.
