A common complaint in reviews of the original Mazama was the overly narrow midfoot/forefoot fit, and designers took that note to heart when creating the Brooks Mazama 2. In version 2, a new more giving mesh upper should better accommodate a wider range of feet while still retaining a light, durable design. The midsole and outsole will have the same tooling as its previous version, so the Mazama 2 should continue to offer a responsive and nimble ride.
In order to provide the same go fast experience on the trails, the shoe offers a BioMoGo DNA midsole and a forefoot propulsion plate. Paired with sticky, semi-aggressive lugs, the shoe also has plenty of traction to handle varying trail conditions.
The main update is the new single layer mesh upper, which should create additional breathability and drainage while also offering a more adaptable fit. A lace garage on the tongue offers secure storage to limit trip hazards.
Weighing in at 9.4 ounces for men and 8.4 ounces for women, the Brooks Mazama 2 weighs approximately the same amount as its predecessor.

Will has been running competitively since high school, and is currently running with the HOKA Aggies, a post-collegiate club here on the central coast of California. With a preference for the humorous and the verbose, he enjoys playing the wordsmith almost as much as his daily runs.
